Staff & Faculty

Mrs. Burns is very excited to be at Sterling!  She has lived in and around the Austin area (Cedar Park, Lakeway, Georgetown) for the last twenty years. They recently moved back after spending three years in Michigan.

She has been in education since graduating from the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras in 1978.  She has taught in all types of school settings including Liceo Ponceno (all-girls school) and American Military Academy (a military academy).  She has also taught at other private Christian schools in the Austin area.  And, during her time in Michigan, she taught at Plymouth Christian School. In all of these settings, Mrs. Burns has sought to honor God with the calling He placed on her life many years ago, to teach.

Teaching is her mission and passion. She loves the classroom and is passionate about young people.  She is also passionate about her subject matter, and hopes her students love and enjoy literature as much as she does.  Mrs. Burns is Texas certified to teach English 6th-12th and also AP Literature and AP Language.

She lives in Austin with her husband, Kevin, an Engineering Manager for MKS in Austin.  They have three children Diego, Creative Producer for Spectrum, Diana (a graduate from Wayne State, and Alana (a graduate from Paul Mitchell and stylist at Salon Rose). They also have three grandchildren, whom they adore: Sofia (4), Luna (2) and Louis (2).
